An Ohio man allegedly left his seven-year-old daughter alone ora half-hour in a running car in Belterra Park’s parking garage. He went into the Anderson Township, Ohio racino after leaving her on Saturday night, police claim.

Charles Jeffers of Mason, Ohio, was charged with endangering a child. Casino security apprehended him, WXIX, an Ohio TV station reported. They have video showing him driving into the garage at 9:30 pm. Security personnel located him at 10 pm.

He remained in the Hamilton County jail until Sunday night. He posted a $2,500 bond. He was scheduled to appear in Hamilton County Municipal Court early this week.

Prior Incidents

The problem of leaving kids alone in cars while adults gamble is seen nationwide. Last October, a 35-year-old Louisiana woman was facing three charges after she allegedly left a child unattended in a car at a Roanoke casino, allowing her time to gamble.

Security officers for Peto’s Travel Center and Casino spotted the 8-year-old child in the car. Deputies arrived and found the child’s mother, later identified as Sandra Sasser Britt of Lake Arthur, in the gaming property. She was gambling, deputies reported.

She was then taken to the car and charged. Britt was charged with child desertion, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia, deputies said.

Prosecutors claim she was at a poker table in the casino for at least 12 minutes. The children were 3 and 11-years-old at the time.

Baby in Car

In July 2021, a baby was found alone in a car parked at Bighorn Casino in North Las Vegas on a hot summer’s evening. A man was later arrested. Police said he was gambling in the venue and appeared intoxicated. Mitchell Anthony Hooks, 39, of Las Vegas, was charged with child abuse and leaving a child unattended in a motor vehicle.

It was not clear how the earlier cases were adjudicated.

A consortium of veteran organizations in California is opposing an initiative by tribal gaming operators to introduce sports betting in the state.

In particular, they said it would let tribal casinos sue commercially licensed cardrooms in the state.

According to a copy of the tribal-backed initiative on the California Secretary of State’s website, the state’s attorney general can issue closure orders for violations of unlawful gambling. A first violation would result in a 24-hour closure. A second would lead to a 48-hour closure, while any subsequent violation would lead to a 30-day shutdown.

Additionally, the measure states that any individual or entity can refer an illegal gambling case to the attorney general. If the attorney general does not file a suit within 90 days, then the referring party can proceed with a civil case.

Vets Raise Fears About Tribal Measure

The vets groups say tribal nations could use that to sue cardrooms and potentially force them out of business.

They say the cardroom casinos provide more than 32,000 jobs that would be threatened by the tribal measure. That would potentially impact $1.6 billion in worker wages and $5.5 billion in economic impact for the state and municipalities. They use the funding to help pay for vital community services.

The qualified tribal gaming initiative encourages frivolous lawsuits that threaten thousands of well-paying jobs, veteran-owned businesses and the ability of municipalities to fund vital emergency services including police, ambulance and fire,” said Mike Kerr, a commander with the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Department of California, in a statement.

The statement added, “Many of our members rely on work in emergency services after their military service to provide for their families and give back to their communities. Disabled American Veterans stands on the side of safer neighborhoods and healthier communities.”

Besides the DAV, other organizations joining forces to oppose the tribal gaming measure include AMVETS, the Association of the United States Army (both Northern and Southern California chapters), the Marine Corps Veterans Association, National Veterans Foundation, Scottish American Military Society, Vietnam Veterans of America, and Delta Veterans Group.

Latest on California Sports Betting Measures

The tribal gaming measure was verified by elections officials last May to have the 997,139 signatures needed from registered voters to be eligible for the 2022 election.

The measure would allow retail sports betting – and retail only, no online – at tribal casinos and the state’s four thoroughbred race tracks. It would also allow tribal casinos to offer roulette and dice games.

The vets’ opposition is the latest development in what will be a multimillion-dollar battle along multiple fronts. Two cardrooms have filed a lawsuit in a Los Angeles County court, claiming the measure goes against state law because it does not pertain to just a single topic.

Lastly, some of the state’s largest tribal gaming entities have put forward a fourth potential initiative that would give Indian casinos exclusive domain over online sports wagering.

The deadline for the cardroom, national operator, and tribal mobile petitions is looming if proponents want their measures to be considered in this year’s election. The tribal online and the national operator petition drives have surpassed gathering 25% of the signatures they need.

According to the California Secretary of State’s office, the last day for petitioners to submit signatures for review on a measure for the 2022 election is April 26.

The 40 – year – old Swedish striker, Ibrahimovic, could soon be playing the final international match of his illustrious football career especially if Sweden loses to Poland in Chorzow, Poland this Tuesday. Ibrahimovic ultimately decided to come out of international retirement early on in 2021 with the strong desire to play in the European Championship. Zlatan ended up having to eventually miss that international football tournament for his Swedish national team due to injury.

The 2022 World Cup will mark his last opportunity to participate in a professional international football tournament should his side beat Poland, and he is able to remain healthy which he is not 100 % healthy at the moment. Only recently returning from an Achilles tendon injury, Zlatan has been restricted to just 3 – late match appearances only as a substitute during Serie A contests for AC Milan this month, and it is obvious that Ibrahimovic is not ready to play as a starter versus Poland.

On Thursday, March 24th, 2022 Italy has been knocked out of the 2022 World Cup hosted in Qatar following their disappointing 1 to 0 loss to North Macedonia. This is devastating news for Italian football and their fans of the usually dominant football national team that has been dominant in the past.

Italy has now been denied the right to qualify for the last 2 possible World Cup tournaments. It would be one thing if they were eliminated early on in the World Cup, but for Italy to not even qualify for the biggest international football tournament is a disgrace to the sport and the nation.

The Italians were just recently crowned the champions of the European Championship only 8 – months ago, can basically only blame themselves for missing out on this year’s rapidly approaching 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Italy tragically failed to convert on literally dozens of scoring opportunities during the 1 – 0 semifinal playoff loss to North Macedonia on Thursday, March 24^th, 2022 with Aleksandar Trajkovski scoring during injury time in order to secure a surprising win for North Macedonia that is presently ranked as the 67^th – best in the world at the moment.

Italy’s loss in Palermo definitely shocked so many that follow European football as it was also somewhat foreseeable for a national team that has been in a downward spiral lately especially since they defeated England on penalty – kicks in order to win the 2020 – 2021 European Championship title last July of 2021.

This Italian national team that was record setting for winning last season has won just 2 of their 8 – games since they lost their 1^st – contest in over 3 – years to Spain in the Nations League.
