iSoftBet Travels Back to the Ancient Lands of Korea with Newest Online Slot

Online casino games maker and supplier iSoftBet has drawn inspiration from the Far East to craft its latest online slot – Ancients of Korea.

The game had its industrywide premiere this week to further enrich the provider’s already hefty portfolio of proprietary products.

Ancients of Korea is a 6×4 slot that, with its stunning visuals and atmospheric sounds, sweeps players into a thrilling journey through the lands of Korea. The game offers up to 4,096 winways per spin and a nice mix of features. Five ancient heroes grace the reels to represent the premiums, while symbols from this great nation’s past act as the title’s lower-paying icons.

Three or more gold coin scatters activate the Free Spins mode. Six scatters award a whopping 50 free spins.

During the bonus game, any wilds that pop into view offer multipliers of 2x or 3x. They also have another important role as some of them help players form winning combos even if they are located on non-adjacent reels.

If two or more scatters appear in a spin in the bonus game, more free spins are added to the total, offering players more opportunities to land big wins while playing iSoftBet’s newest exciting title.

Creating Immersive Environments

Commenting on the latest addition to their games library, iSoftBet Head of Games Mark Claxton said that Ancients of Korea enables them to craft “incredibly immersive, artistic environments in an incredibly interesting part of history.”

Mr. Claxton went on to note that with its “engaging theme, huge win potential, and a giant number of free spins available” as well as its wild multipliers and high paying symbols paying out on non-adjacent reels, “players can enjoy a legendary experience.”

Ancients of Korea joins iSoftBet’s ever-growing portfolio of online slots and follows the recent release of hit titles Pyramid Pays and Hot Spin Megaways, the hugely popular Hot Spin series sequel.

It should also be noted that the new game has been released shortly after iSoftBet won a Game Narrative recognition in the inaugural CasinoBeats Developer Awards.

In addition to producing new games, the studio has also been busy expanding its products’ exposure by teaming up with a growing number of major operators. Earlier this year, the company unveiled a content supply deal with William Hill and its online gaming operation.

It was also not long ago when iSoftBet’s titles went live with OlyBet in a move that expanded the provider’s presence in the Baltics as well as with BetOle, Lobbet, Winfest, Casino Days, and more. All these deals saw the games maker significantly increase its foothold across European and other markets.

German Lottery Winner Unknowingly Carried $39M in Purse for Weeks

A lottery winner in Germany who was unaware of her lucky fortune carried around the ticket that will make her a multimillionaire many times over for several weeks.

German lottery tickets can be purchased all across the country, including at convenience stores like this one in Munich. A female lottery winner finally came across her winning $39 million ticket more than a month after the draw. (Image: Foursquare)

Lotto Bayern, Germany’s state-run lottery, confirmed yesterday that a 45-year-old mother residing in Lower Franconia is the sole winner of the June 9 LOTTO 6aus49 draw. The woman, who chose to remain anonymous, purchased a ticket and guessed all seven numbers correctly.

The woman picked all six correct white numbers, plus the yellow super ball. The odds of doing so, Lotto Bayern say, are one in 139,838,160. The June 9 jackpot was worth 33 million euros (US$39 million).

After more than a month and a half passed, lottery officials worried that the lottery winner might not be aware of their newfound wealth. But that changed yesterday after the woman came forward.

The unidentified person said she unwittingly had the LOTTO ticket in her purse the entire time. After finding it and checking the numbers, she realized her fortune.

I still get dizzy at the thought that I carelessly carried almost 33 million euros around in my purse for several weeks,” she said, as relayed through a statement from Lotto Bayern.

As for her future, she says she won’t be playing the lottery anytime soon. The woman explained that $39 million is “more than enough for my husband, my daughter, and me.”

Fortunate Outcome

Not everyone is as lucky as the German woman who discovered long after the draw that she was a major lottery winner.

In May, a California woman told state lottery officials that she had mistakenly washed down a winning ticket valued at $26 million. The California Lottery confirmed that one person possessed a winning SuperLotto Plus ticket from the November 14, 2020, drawing.

The winning numbers were 12, 13, 23, 31, 36, and Mega Number 10. California Lottery regulations allow winners to redeem their prizes within 180 days.

The woman said she failed to take a photo of the ticket, which would have served as evidence that she was the rightful winner. Instead, the unclaimed prize went back into the California Lottery SuperLotto prize pool.

Lottery Losses

While most unclaimed lottery wins aren’t nearly as rich as the two mentioned, their values add up.

Brett Jacobson, who created a lottery app that notifies players if they won, filed successful public records requests with state lotteries in 2014 seeking information on just how many winning lottery tickets go unclaimed each year. The results were shocking.

In 2013, Jacobson said approximately $2.04 billion went unclaimed. That figure has likely only risen since, as state lotteries have reported increased revenue over the past several years.

In 2013, Americans spent almost $68.9 billion on lottery tickets. That number has ballooned to more than $91.3 billion in 2019. And even during the pandemic, lottery sales in 2020 totaled nearly $90 billion.

Ex-Star Sydney Casino Baccarat Dealer Guilty in $345K Betting Scam

A former baccarat dealer at The Star Sydney in New South Wales has been sentenced for cheating the casino out of nearly AU$500,000 (US$345,000).

Prosecutors brought charges against Hieu Duc Lam, now 36, in September of 2020. Surveillance video captured Lam the month before orchestrating a scheme involving a gambler who was in on the fraud.

Law enforcement said Lam used a mobile messaging app to tip off the accomplice as to which cards were forthcoming.

Footage shows Mr. Lam peeking and memorizing a number of cards that were to be used in an upcoming game of baccarat. Once Mr. Lam had memorized the cards, he would then use a secure messaging app on his phone to inform his accomplice, a player in the upcoming game, the order of the cards,” the New South Wales Independent Liquor & Gaming Authority (ILGA) explained in a statement.

The illegal operation, police said, resulted in Lam and the unidentified accomplice swindling AU$467,700 in less than a month. In January, Lam pleaded guilty to 15 counts of “dishonestly obtaining a financial advantage.” The Star Sydney is owned and operated by The Star Entertainment Group

Star Uncovers Scheme

ILGA regulators said The Star Sydney self-reported the cheating scheme to the government agency. Gaming laws in New South Wales require such reporting when any sort of unlawful activity has been detected.

Along with his two-year prison sentence, which is set to run through July 8, 2023, Lam has been ordered to pay back the stolen funds, and perform 250 hours of community service.

Lam’s casino license was revoked, and his employment at The Star was terminated.

“A casino special employee is licensed to supervise and facilitate gaming activities. Their role is to help safeguard the integrity of casino operations from criminal influence, serious misconduct or exploitation, and a special degree of trust is placed in them. This case demonstrates a clear breach of that trust,” declared Philip Crawford, chairman of the ILGA.

Repeat Violations

It was only in March when The Star Sydney fired two other employees who were convicted of stealing more than AU$30,000 in gaming chips from the casino.

Baccarat dealer Richard Quach was captured on surveillance siphoning chips from the table while dealing last year. In a separate incident, Star security detected another casino table game employee — Pharadorn Naweesakorn — divvy out AU$6,000 in chips to a customer who only handed over AU$1,000 in cash.

A subsequent investigation determined that Naweesakorn and the same individual conspired in the illicit scheme to net themselves around AU$20,000.

The Star self-reported the two violations. Quach and Naweesakorn were both sentenced to two-year Community Corrections Orders and to repay the money stolen.

Slotegrator Celebrates Brazilian Market Entry

Online gambling software and services company Slotegrator this week announced that it has expanded its global reach with the launch of its offering in Brazil in anticipation of the reorganization of the local online sports betting space.

The company said that it would offer all of its services and products in the market, including game integration, sportsbook, payment systems, affiliate management, as well as marketing, licensing, web hosting and advisory services.

Brazil, which gambling analysts call the industry’s sleeping giant, expects to reorganize its digital wagering sector by the end of the year and have up and running online gambling operations before next year’s FIFA World Cup.

This timeline is based on the recent presidential ratification of a law that re-regulates and reorganizes a number of industries, including athletic gambling. Among other things, the law contains a modified article that restructures the future gambling tax regime to be based on gross revenue instead of the previously proposed gross wagering value of the bets placed by local bettors.

Introducing legal online betting services in Brazil has long been called for. With a population of over 200 million people, the widespread popularity of many sports, and an estimated 60% Internet penetration, the country has attracted the attention of multiple leading gambling operators awaiting regulation to explore its potential.

A Tantalizing Prospect

Commenting on their expansion into Brazil, Slotegrator Sales Manager Ayvar Gabidullin said that the country being the sixth most populated in the world, “combined with a nationwide passion for sports and betting and an estimated 60% Internet penetration”, make the local sports gambling space a “tantalizing prospect for online casino and sportsbook operators.”

He went on that after re-regulation, the “size of the sports betting market in Brazil could possibly rank as one of the largest in the world.”

News about Slotegrator’s Brazilian debut emerge shortly after the company premiered its services in the recently reorganized Greek market as well as in Lithuania’s regulated online casino and sports betting space.

It should also be noted that the provider has recently sealed a stream of important partnerships aiming to strengthen its position in core markets. Earlier in July, Slotegrator’s online casino games aggregation platform took titles from Rhino Gaming, the game development operation of the Spiffbet group.

Under the terms of this recently penned partnership, Rhino Gaming was able to make its products available in India’s lucrative iGaming space.

It was also not long ago when Slotegrator successfully added content from BF Games and Greentube to the offering that it delivers to its ever-growing network of operator partners and their players.

Slotegrator was launched in 2012 and specializes in the provision of omni-channel solutions for various verticals within the global online gambling industry, including its widely acclaimed aggregator.

‘Sopranos’ Fans Gather at Atlantic City Casino to Meet TV Show’s Stars

Some stars, such as Edie Falco (Carmela Soprano) and Michael Imperioli (Christopher Moltisanti), are not scheduled to attend the SopranosCon event. But actors who portrayed other main characters have signed on to be there. Among these are Kathrine Narducci (Charmaine Bucco) Dominic Chianese (Uncle Junior), and Lorraine Bracco (Dr. Melfi). Actors from other Mob movies and TV shows also will be in attendance.

The event organizers’ alliance with Federico Castelluccio, who played Furio Giunta in the series, helped in attracting actors to the weekend convention, according to media accounts.

This is the second year for SopranosCon, which gives fans a chance to attend panel discussions, visit vendor exhibits, and collect autographs.

This year, SopranosCon is teaming with MobMovieCon in hosting the event. The convention will feature a “Mob Movie Awards” ceremony, with entertainer Ice-T serving as master of ceremonies, according to northjersey.com. The award categories includes a “James Gandolfini Humanitarian Award.” Gandolfini, who starred as New Jersey mobster Tony Soprano, died of a heart attack in 2013 while in Rome. He was 51.

Tickets start at $50 each day for the Saturday and Sunday convention. For information, visit the  MobMovieCon website.

New Jersey Mob Hub

The initial SopranosCon was held in 2019 at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus, N.J. This first convention attracted about 15,000 attendees, according to northjersey.com.

Last year’s convention was canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Event organizer Michael Mota said Atlantic City’s longtime association with gangsters made the New Jersey gambling hub a “perfect fit” for the 2021 convention, northjersey.com reported.

In 1929, major mobsters met in the oceanside city for the first gathering of its kind to sort out differences and to form an underworld alliance. Those in attendance reportedly included Meyer Lansky, Al Capone, Benjamin “Bugsy Siegel, and Charles “Lucky” Luciano.

‘Sopranos’ Spinoffs

Though the final Sopranos episode aired 14 years ago, interest in the series remains high.

Some of the show’s stars, including Imperioli and Steve Schirripa (Bobby “Bacala” Baccilieri), have their own regular podcasts. The podcast by Imperioli and Schirripa is titled Talking Sopranos.

Also, a “Monopoly: The Sopranos” edition of the board game recently has been released, retailing for $39.99. Players can buy, sell, and trade locations associated with the show, such as the Sopranos’ house and Satriale’s Pork Store, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Player tokens include Tony’s boat, The Stugots, and Dr. Melfi’s therapy chair

Interest in The Sopranos is expected to undergo another major revival when a prequel movie, The Many Saints of Newark, is released Oct. 1. The movie stars Gandolfini’s son, Michael, as a younger Tony Soprano.
