Snoop Dogg Becomes ‘Chief Ganjaroo Officer’ of Crypto Casino Roobet

Snoop Dogg is synonymous with marijuana, and the hip-hop legend’s newest gig puts cannabis directly into his job title.

Snoop announced this week that he’s partnered with Roobet, an online cryptocurrency casino, to become their “Chief Ganjaroo Officer.” In the promotional role, the rap legend and NFT (non-fungible token) influencer will help market the online crypto casino.

Roobet is a subsidiary of Raw Entertainment B.V., an online gaming firm based and licensed in Curacao. The South American island country near Aruba is a hub for offshore iGaming and online bookmaking platforms.

Roobet is an online casino that allows players to gamble with cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin.

The site offers more than 2,000 slot machines and interactive table games. The casino says one of its more popular games is its proprietary roulette offering that simply challenges players to wager on what color symbol the pill will land on. Roobet also offers cryptocurrency sports betting.

Roobet is blocked in the US and throughout most of Europe.

Developing a Brand

Roobet co-founder Matt Duea explained that bringing on Snoop Dogg, a celebrity who rarely needs an introduction, is about building the crypto casino’s brand. Launched in 2019, Roobet claims to be one of the fastest-growing crypto casinos in the world.

“Since day one, our mission has been to push the boundaries of what a gaming brand can be, and Snoop’s a real visionary,” said Duea. “Together, we’re going to truly revolutionize the online entertainment experience.”

Duea explained that Roobet seeks to provide the “most exciting and immersive online casino experience” available.

“With Snoop by our side, the future of digital entertainment is looking brighter than ever,” Duea added.

Snoop said he was attracted to the sponsorship opportunity because of Roobet’s brand uniqueness.

These guys are doing something different,” Snoop said. “This partnership just feels natural, and we’re going to blaze a trail for the future of online entertainment.”

Roobet said Snoop will lend his entertainment industry and brand expertise to the casino enterprise.

Crypto Rebound

The December arrest of Sam Bankman-Fried, the co-founder and CEO of FTX, once a leading cryptocurrency exchange, devastated the crypto industry.

Prior to his arrest in the Bahamas where FTX was headquartered, bitcoin was trading above $20,000. Bankman-Fried being charged with wire fraud, commodities fraud, securities fraud, money laundering, and campaign finance law violations sent bitcoin into a nosedive, with the cryptocurrency trading below $17,000 just weeks later.

Bankman-Fried is alleged to have used customers’ FTX crypto holdings to make risky investments through another company he founded, Alameda Research. When reports surfaced about FTX funds being improperly used to fund Alameda, customers began withdrawing their crypto holdings, which led to FTX filing for bankruptcy when it couldn’t complete the requested transactions.

Some Wall Street observers felt FTX’s demise would permanently hurt the crypto markets, but prices have since rebounded. Bitcoin is trading above $23,300 this morning — though that’s about 47% below where the digital currency was trading at this time last year.

Key differences between land-based and online casino

Land-based casinos have been around for centuries. In the last two decades, casinos have become a regular online sight, and virtual games are popular with players. Both land-based and online casinos offer exciting gameplay, but they differ from each other in several ways. Keep reading to discover the key differences between land-based and online casinos.

Accessibility and Restrictions

Using an online casino gives players access to games wherever they are. They can also play the casino’s mobile version on a smartphone like an iPhone or a Samsung using a dedicated app or a mobile browser to enjoy their favourite games from any location with Internet access.

Being able to access online casinos so easily makes them convenient. While land-based casinos may not be as convenient in terms of travelling to them, they do house a variety of games and entertainment options under one roof. In some of these casinos, visitors can watch a live show, spend time playing table games, and have a meal in a restaurant all in one space. This range of activities makes a land-based casino a good choice for an easily accessible night out.

The availability/accessibility/selection

Both online and land-based casinos provide a variety of games, including slot machines and table games. Land-based premises tend to have fewer games due to space restrictions. There are no such restrictions when it comes to online virtual games. So, online casinos have a more extensive selection of games. For example, offerings like platincasino slots online include Megaways slots and jackpot games. There’s also a live casino that mimics the experience in a brick & mortar location. So, players can get traditional casino excitement in any location.

The security level

Modern online casinos have high levels of security, including SSL encryption. These casinos also have licences that guarantee they operate fairly. These security measures and licences ensure that a person is safe while playing online and has financial protection. Land-based casinos also have security measures and licences that ensure they operate fairly. They also have security cameras in place to monitor activity in the casino. Both online and land-based casinos operate a know your customer (KYC) process which means that players have to provide verification of their identity.

The overall experience

Overall, the experience of playing at an online casino is very different from that of visiting land-based premises. For example:

? Playing a slot game in a land-based casino involves using a free-standing machine and pushing buttons or pulling levers, whereas playing slots online involves using a keypad or touchscreen.
? In land-based casinos, playing involves an actual physical experience, whereas online, the experience is virtual.
? Online casinos are always available for players to enjoy, whereas travelling to a land-based casino takes time and effort and may not be convenient.
? Land-based casinos often have bars, restaurants, and live entertainment, which is not the case for online casinos.

Conclusion

The experiences of playing at an online casino and visiting land-based premises have some key differences. Playing online doesn’t involve travelling to a venue, whereas playing at a land-based casino does. Land-based casinos often house other entertainment that people can enjoy, whereas online casinos are all about playing games. Both online and land-based casinos are safe and secure, and they’re both interactive. The type of experience an individual opts for is down to personal choice.

Wind Creek Overcomes Hurdle to Buy Miami’s Magic City Casino

wind_creek_overcomes_hurdle_to_buy_miamis_magic_city_casinoWind Creek Hospitality has overcome one of its biggest hurdles and has initial clearance to add Miami’s Magic City Casino to its expanding roster of gaming venues. The PCI (Poarch Creek Indian) Gaming subsidiary will operate the license through Gretna Racing, LLC.

Magic City is a local fixture grown from a parimutuel racetrack and owned by the Havenick family since the 1930s. Havenick’s West Flagler Associates (WFA) is the legal entity offering the property up for sale.

In early December, the Florida Gaming Control Commission put approval of the transfer of assets and license on the back burner so more information about the deal could be given to the public before making a decision.

Transfer was not without Opposition

Opposition came from a perennial anti-casino organization in Florida. Legal counsel for a major gaming tribe in Florida had also asked commissioners to move forward with caution. However, Magic City representatives noted that 3rd party interventional would not be lawful.

At the time. Commissioners noted there was nothing objectionable in the highly redacted application but that it may not meet the standards of Florida’s sunshine laws.

Stephanie Bryan, Tribal Chair & CEO of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians said: “We are excited to grow our footprint in another major metropolitan area, this time in Miami, Florida.

Our expansions in Pennsylvania, Illinois, and now Florida provide us the ability to take care of and grow opportunities for our Tribe. We look forward to becoming a valued partner in the Miami community.

Bryan’s references to Pennsylvania and Illinois included the former Sands Bethlehem in Pennsylvania which the firm purchased for $1.3b in 2019 before rebranding – and Wind Creek Chicago Southland, an under-construction 70,000 sq ft casino featuring 1,350 slot machines, 56 table games, entertainment, dining, and a 250+ room hotel,

Jay Dorris, CEO and President of Wind Creek added: “Southern Florida is a natural connection from our properties in Aruba & Curacao, our properties in Alabama and the Florida Panhandle.

With close proximity to Miami International Airport, the location is fantastic for players from all Wind Creek properties, and gives Miami locals an easy way to experience the Wind Creek brand everywhere we operate,” Dorris noted.

A New and Vibrant Market

While stating that the purchase added to its footprint in a “new and vibrant market” they also said that no major changes should be expected at the Miami property in the immediate future, but migration to the operator’s rewards and loyalty programs should be completed before the end of the year.

Wind Creek Hospitality manages the Tribe’s gaming facilities. The list includes Wind Creek Aruba, Wind Creek Atmore, Wind Creek Curacao, Wind Creek Montgomery, Wind Creek Wetumpka, Wa She Shu Casino in Nevada, as well as a racetrack in Alabama, a card room in Pensacola, and a barrel racing track with a card room in Gretna.

The company’s virtual casino is called Casinoverse. Developer Hyper Luminal describes it as “an interactable game world which brings the excitement and joy of Wind Creek casinos right to your pocket.”

Mohegan Shoots for Lower Manhattan Casino License

Mohegan Gaming is joining up with Soloviev Group to throw its hat in the ring for one of three downstate New York casino licenses. While the partnership wasn’t widely known until a late January announcement, the Soloviev Group’s digital literature on the proposed project is dated November 2022.

Mohegan Gaming isn’t specifically named in the PDF brochure, only a reference to an “opportunity to partner with a casino partner who shares our vision, commitment to excellence and who is best suited to operate such a groundbreaking endeavor for the City of New York.”

However, according to an article in the New York Times, Mohegan Gaming is partnering with the long-time owner of nearly 7 acres in Midtown, New York to build and operate a casino to be built underground with a park and giant Ferris wheel on top. Amenities would include a hotel, residential and retail areas, and four acres of green space, which group founder Stefan Quinn Soloviev has dubbed Freedom Plaza.

Manhattan Waterfront Underground Casino

Soloviev purchased the 6.5-acre waterfront plot from Consolidated Edison in 2000 for $600 million.

The location is near the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. The plot of land is the largest contiguous piece of undeveloped property in Manhattan. Approvals have already purportedly been given for 2.75M sq ft of mixed use development. The company has owned the plot “shovel-ready” for over 15 years, waiting for the right opportunity to present itself.

The company mentions that the East River Entertainment District addition would extend the current East River Waterfront Renewal project, adding to the existing waterfront parks, bike lanes, pedestrian seating, and basketball courts along the two-mile-long Esplanade.

Soloviev Group CEO, Michael Hershman said that the project was “beyond a casino”.

As currently imagined, the project would feature a raised podium & public park with retail and amenities. The company explained that a layered plan would maximize the available space while cutting down on towers, and would result in more open space for the community.

Illustrations of the concept are labeled as “approved buildable plans” and show a narrow band of lowest-level underground parking topped by casino, restaurant, and retail space spanning the entire width of the property.

Open Spaces Everywhere

Atop is a domed park and recreation area with several residential towers – one version holds a commercial tower at one end – another shows a new museum for New York City at the other end – the “world’s first museum dedicated to the celebration of freedom and democracy.”

More detailed architectural art shows a massive Ferris Wheel centered on top of the park’s central “dome”.

If current architectural drawings are predictive of the final plot, open spaces would not be confined to ground level or rooftops – some of the mirrored glass towers that could have a hotel, residential, or commercial spaces inside, have sections of a level and entire floors open to the elements with greenery and grass.

The New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC) announced a Request for Application for three full-scale Las Vegas-style casino licenses first written into law after a 2013 voter referendum. Mohegan is one of the last to announce plans with the only other highly anticipated announcer being Hard Rock International – but that announcement may never come. The company has played its cards close to its chest with a possible venue only a few miles away at Meadowlands in New Jersey.

CEO and President of Mohegan Gaming, Ray Pineault said: “Mohegan is known for the wide array of extraordinary experiences and exceptional service we provide our guests – but it is truly our culture, values, and commitment to our community that set us apart as an organization.

“Our rich Mohegan heritage provides the foundation for how we operate our business and guides our commitment to our employees, our approach to guest services, and our relationship with partners and the communities in which we operate and serve. We look forward to infusing our “Spirit of Aquai,” our guiding philosophy, into New York State.”

Mohegan Gaming is no stranger to large or unique projects. One of its largest endeavors to date has been INSPIRE Integrated Resort Co., Ltd. Korea. Mohegan INSPIRE is building the largest resort in Northeast Asia. It’s located at Incheon International Airport in Yeongjong-do. The project will be completed in 4 phases through 2046.

Phase One is under construction and features 3 five-star hotels (approximately 1,200 rooms), an arena with 15,000 seats (multipurpose performance hall), an indoor water park, convention facilities, a foreigner-only casino, a digital street, and an outdoor family park.
