Look for engaging features like Snake Spins dropping random wild symbols onto the reels and expanding symbols during the free spins bonus feature.

Spearhead Studios Game Development Director, Kevin Corti commented: “Book of Souls was the second game we made – now, we have over 60!! – and, while it’s still one of our best performers, we felt we could make it even better. Not only did we radically spruce up the visuals, greatly modernizing the game, but we made it much more volatile. We gave it much higher max win potential and added new gamble and buy-bonus features to give players more control over their experience.

French Sports Minister Roxana Maracineanu Looking for Sanctions after French Soccer Violence

french_sports_minister_roxana_maracineanu_looking_for_sanctions_after_french_soccer_violenceRoxana Maracineanu is the current French sports minister, and Maracineanu publicly expressed the fact that French domestic football is in need of a, “radical and immediate,” changes after there was a troubling incident with fans on last Sunday, November 21st, 2021 during a league contest featuring Lyon and Marseille. This problematic experience was just the most recent of many alarming violent episodes that have occurred during games in the French League lately as there have been a whole series of these type of incidents.

The game between Marseille and Lyon last Sunday had to abruptly be stopped following an incident in which a spectator hit the Marseille player, Dimitri Payet, in the head with a full water bottle during just the 4th – minute of game time during this highly – anticipated match.

There have been other problematic violent issues that were comparable to the above – mentioned occurrence last Sunday in France, and this type of behavior has tarnished the reputation of the domestic football landscape ever since the beginning of the current soccer season. Several of the many previous altercations have involved Marseille, and the French League had no problem stating that these problems are, “destroying the image of the league in France and internationally.”

Back in August of 2021 during a game featuring Nice and the 1993 European title champion had to be was stopped and eventually cancelled following the spectators throwing projectiles on the pitch as well as storming the field. During that incident Payet was struck by another bottle that was thrown on the field by fans, and Payet threw it back in the direction of the fans. Also, several football players and members of their staff participated in a large violent brawl. Nice was consequently punished by receiving a deduction of 2 – points, and 1 – point suspended.

During another incident that happened earlier this year, the fans of Montpellier began violently throwing shit at the Marseille football players, and this resulted in Valentin Rongier suffering a gash to his lip. Last September of 2021, Angers and visiting Marseille fans stormed the field and the fans then engaged in fights all over the place.

The Marseille Football Club just so happens to be owned and operated by the American businessman, Frank McCourt, has had his share of crazy moments as the football club owner had to deal with a severe situation last January of 2021 when several hundred fans of his team physically forced their way into the football club’s practice/training facility just a matter of hours prior to a home French League match. In statements made following this dramatic incident, McCourt compared the violent behavior to the January 6th, 2021 insurrection at the United States of America Capitol.

According to sources at the L’Equipe newspaper, 4 – people, which includes the individual that threw the bottle at Payet, were arrested and charged with crimes in the aftermath of last Sunday’s contest. The French League condemned the recent assault on Payet, and the French League also proclaimed that Payet was verbally assaulted with, “insults of a discriminatory nature.”

Prior to Monday’s disciplinary commission’s emergency meeting, the French League stated that the security provided for these games is the responsibility of the hosting football club and the local authorities.

Other football teams have been afflicted by problems caused by the fans throughout this crazy season of soccer matches. In September of 2021, the spectators stormed the field in Lens in the northern rivalry with Lille, and fights broke out in the crowd all over the place. Also, this season in a match involving Paris Saint – Germain vs. Lyon, a teenage child was badly hurt after being struck by a thrown seat.

In October of 2021, during a contest featuring Saint – Etienne and Angers had to be delayed for close to an hour due to another invasion of the field and road flares were being thrown on to the field prior to the kickoff of this heated battle.

UEFA may need to step in and regulate if things do not turn around in the right direction during these French football matches.

Media Statements

What happened in Lyon is unacceptable,” the French sports minister, Roxana Maracineanu, explained.

“Dimitri Payet has my full support,” Maracineanu goes on to say. We cannot allow players to be assaulted in this way. Such acts should result in an automatic stoppage of games at the very least.”

Cambodian Online Gambling Rogue Operation Frees 60 Trafficked Thai Workers

Some 60 Thai workers allegedly trafficked and ransomed by an online gambling outfit in Cambodia were repatriated Monday to their home country.

According to The Bangkok Post, the victims were deceived into working for the illegal operation after answering false job advertisements in Sihanoukville, a casino boomtown on Cambodia’s west coast.

Once there, they were kept in “slave-like” conditions. Those who refused to comply were beaten and threatened with being sold for slave labor. They were rescued after their captors demanded a ransom from their relatives, who were able to notify Thai authorities.

The Post reports the relatives’ pleas were amplified by social media and reached the ears of Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha. He ordered the Royal Thai Police to cooperate with Cambodian authorities to intervene.

Authorities arrested four Chinese, four Cambodians, and two Thai suspects at the scene.

Three More Rescued

Two weeks earlier, three Thai women were rescued from an underground online gambling operation under similar circumstances, the Post said. The women, identified only as Jenjira, Pornnapa, and Sasinipa, were being held by an online gambling operation in Poipet, another Cambodian boomtown on the Thai border.

Police said the women were being held by their Chinese employer who demanded a ransom of 10,000 baht each (around $306) for their release. That’s about half the average monthly wage in Thailand. The man threatened to sell the women to a call center gang in China if the ransom was not paid.

The women have been in quarantine for the past two weeks because of coronavirus-related travel restrictions, but are now home and being interviewed by police.

These are just the latest of many reports coming out of Cambodia about human trafficking linked to the country’s illegal gambling industry, much of which is reportedly controled by Chinese triads.

A study published in September by the Thompson Reuters Foundation found that foreign workers and tourists stranded in Cambodia because of the pandemic have become easy prey for these gangs. The country’s land borders are closed, and flights out are infrequent.

Traffickers on the Move?

Most of the reports relate to operations based in Sihanoukville, which has become a gambling mecca for Chinese tourists in recent years. But there are also signs that the trafficking gangs are on the move.

The Khmer Times reports that many operators have moved north to Koh Kong and other provinces because of the “rising costs” of doing business in Sihanoukville. Others have moved out of Cambodia altogether, to countries including Liberia, the Philippines, and Indonesia, where they can find “better margins.”

Cambodia prohibited online gambling from September 2019, bowing to pressure from its biggest trading partner, China. This makes it difficult for illegal operators to find cheap labor legally, which may partly explain the rise in trafficking and also the gradual exodus from Cambodia of the gangs that control it.

Lawyer: Hotel for Proposed Full House Casino Plagiarizes Brazilian Venue

When Full House Resorts submitted its proposal to the Indiana Gaming Commission (IGC) for the Vigo County casino license, the Las Vegas-based gaming company said a four-star hotel with a “unique architectural design” would be part of the $250 million development. However, a lawyer claiming to represent a famous Brazilian architect has told the Indiana Gaming Commission that that’s not the case.

At left is the Hotel Unique in Sao Paolo, Brazil. At right is a rendering of the hotel that’s part of Full House Resort’s American Place Casino, which would be built in Terre Haute, Ind. A lawyer for Brazilian architect Ruy Ohtake claims the hotel designed by Los Angeles-based JERDE is “a messy copy, with gross changes” to Ohtake’s design for Hotel Unique and that neither Full House nor JERDE sought his approval before submitting it to the Indiana Gaming Commission. (Images: Ronit Bhattacharjee/Flickr and Full House Resorts)

On Friday, Mariana Mello, a partner with Sao Paolo-based Mello Advogados Associados, sent the Indiana Gaming Commission a letter stating that the semi-circular shaped hotel that’s part of Full House’s proposed American Place Casino in Terre Haute is “a shameless copy” of a hotel in the Brazilian capital designed by Ruy Ohtake more than 20 years ago.

Ohtake was the architect for Hotel Unique, which opened in 2003. Mello said Ohtake came up with the round building supported by side gables.

The 95-room hotel, according to a 2014 New York Times review, provides “a pleasant and peculiar experience for guests looking for something out of the ordinary.”

Mello said Ohtake learned about the Full House project last week and in the letter accused Los Angeles-based architectural firm JERDE of plagiarism as Ohtake has copyrighted his design. She added no one ever sought Ohtake’s approval.

…the project presented to this company is a shameless copy of the architectural project of the Notifier (Ohtake),” Mello wrote. “Worse than that, it’s a messy copy, with gross changes to the original design that, however, aren’t able to hide the improper copy made.”

Messages to Mello, Full House, and JERDE were not returned.

Full House Presents Proposal Wednesday

Full House is one of four companies that will give presentations to the IGC at a meeting Wednesday afternoon in Indianapolis. The commission is scheduled to vote on an applicant that would receive the license for the state’s 13th casino, pending the outcome of an appellate hearing involving the previous license holder.

The commission voted to not renew the license of Lucy Luck in June after the company failed to make substantial progress on a proposed Hard Rock Rocksino after getting the license in May 2020. Terre Haute businessman Greg Gibson, who founded Lucy Luck, filed the appeal in the state’s Office of Administrative Law Proceedings. An administrative law judge issued a stay on the IGC’s decision while the case is being considered.

Others applying for the license include Hard Rock International, Churchill Downs Incorporated, and Premier Gaming Group.

Design Change May Not Pose Problems

In the letter to the IGC, Mello warns the IGC that it “must refrain from accepting, disclosing, or carrying out the work” presented by Full House or risk “being co-responsible for the plagiarism.”

However, if Full House were to be picked, it may not necessarily be an issue if the company was forced to go in a different direction with the hotel.

IGC Deputy Director Jenny Reske told Casino.org that the commissioners have “broad discretion on how to weigh the different factors” when selecting an applicant. What the IGC requires is that licensees end products “are substantially the same” as what they proposed.

“If the capital investment remains the same, and they’re proposing a four-star hotel, if that would remain the same, then I don’t think the commissioners would find the specific design details material enough to cause action,” she said.

The four-star hotel is a key part of Full House’s proposal. At a presentation in Terre Haute last month, company officials told residents that it was an amenity that the community lacked and would help draw visitors to the casino.

The 100-room four-star hotel would likely include such items as luxury furnishings, room service, and a full-service spa.
